Customer data can span at least through ADL and ODL and in some cases even the DBL.

It depends on the purpose of your data, if it is stored to serve applications it should be part of the ODL, if the main goal is to use it for Analytics of all kinds you should place it on the ADL.

Nevertheless, the data placed in both areas can be overlooked by a customer focused team that has access to both Data Layers and makes sure that the modelling used on either layer is aligned and produces the same outputs. You can even produce part of the information on the ADL and serve it for application consumption on the ODL - an example of this are data sets like customer scoring, marketing leads, next best offer, best time to contact.
